The 12 ESSENTIALS of 614
Essentials we live by:
Worship With Commitment And Integrity
That means we will be intentional, faithful, upfront
and honest in our worship of God.
Transformational Prayer
That means we believe that God can completely
change people, situations and communities when
we pray for them.
Preaching For All By All
That means that we are all called to speak and live
God’s truth into the lives of our neighbours and co-
workers and friends.
Radical Discipleship
That means that we will all be mentored and taught
to follow Christ so that we are grounded in faith,
knowledge and service.
Redemptive Theology Of Salvation
That means that we believe that God can save us and
completely turn our lives around – from living in sin
to living in God. We believe Christ’s sacrifice on the
cross can redeem our lives, our communities and
the whole world.
Holistic Mission Of Reconciliation
That means that the church will care for the needs of
the whole person, physically, mentally, emotionally
and spiritually, striving to see us at peace with God,
ourselves and others.
Prophetic Engagement With Culture
That means that we will live in the world and try to
understand our society so that we can show Christ
to our culture and all cultures effectively.
Passionate Pursuit Of Justice
That means that while women are crying and
children are being hurt and people are going
hungry or suffering we will fight to see this change.
Commitment To Lifestyle Simplicity
That means that even when the world keeps telling
us to buy more and more stuff, we will live simply,
so that others may simply live.
Incarnational Community Life
That means that we will live in our community and
be real neighbours to one another, just as Jesus
Christ came to earth and walked among us.
Affirmation Of All People Equally
That means that we are all equal, no matter what we
look like, or what language we speak, or what our
past has been like, or what age we are, or anything
else that seems to make us different from one
another.
Rooted In Mission Not Maintenance
That means that we will continually look up to God,
out to others and forward to the future, rather than
just doing things a certain way because we’ve
always done them that way.
Incarnational Ministry
614 is predicted on relational ministry and therefore is incarnational in form and function. We “live our lives” alongside and among those whom God has called us to, following the example of Jesus: “The Word became flesh and moved into the neighbourhood” John 1:14, The Message.
